Vin: TDH-5303-6196
Built December 1967
102 inches wide/40 feet long
Sand Diego Transit
53 passengers, National seats
This bus was purchased from San Diego Transit. It was driven to Perris and for the years I had it, never caused more problems than routine maintenance. I wanted this bus for the Fun Fleet because it, technically, was a TDH-5304...and one half. Since it was built as some of the last 5303 second generation buses, it had several features of a 5305. Note the 5305 marker lights. I was one of the first to have a VS-2-6 transmission.
Problems came up because these had a cable from the transmission ot the front control lever. This did not work well when the buses were cold because it was hard to get them in gear. later, on 5305 models, GM went to electric push button controls with air shifters.
A few of these types of buses were used in the movie Speed.
Fun Fleet bus #342 was sold to a bus fan
